Cabernet Sauvignon - Our 100% estate-grown cab. Our goal with producing this Cabernet is to not only showcase the power of Cabernet, but do so in a style that is softer in tannin, fruit-forward, approachable, and therefore food-friendly.
Petit Verdot - The least known of the five "noble" Bordeaux reds, Petit Verdot is traditionally a grape reserved for blending, but in 2005 we decided to experiment with a 100% varietal wine that's garnered quite the fan base.
Merlot - Because of it's similar, yet softer, fruit-forward character, to King Cabernet, it's often blended with Cab to soften its rougher edges. Ours is soft like a Merlot should be but with a ton of personality that makes it a pleasure to drink on its own and with your favorite carnivorous OR vegetarian meal. A perennial award winner and a steal at $15!
Meritage Blend - A classic Bordeaux blend of estate-grown Cabernet Sauv, Merlot, and Petit Verdot where Hopland's California soil and sunshine pushes the dark red fruit characteristics to the forefront. All three grapes are used in generous portions to allow the pleasurable nuances each to clearly shine through.
Reserve Pinot Noir - This vintage is a medium bodied, elegant yet nuanced well-balanced wine with wonderful aromas and a taste of red berries and spices.
Reserve Merlot - This Merlot is a blend of free run juice and pressed wine from small lots aged in French oak barrels.

Jim Milone feels quite fortunate to have been making wine from Sanel Valley Vineyards for over 40 years. He is a fourth generation Hopland Winegrower, following in the footsteps of his great grandfather, who emigrated from Italy as a young man and operated Hopland's first winery until Prohibition. He grew up working in the family vineyards developing a love for the land that has only increased over time, and founded the first winery in Hopland after prohibition.
His goal in winemaking is to create wines that are true extensions of the grape, vineyard and terroir. Jim's winemaking philosophy has developed over decades of producing a wide variety of wines from many different locations. "Planting the right varieties in the right locations is first and foremost. If you want to make great wines, you must grow excellent grapes. Nurture the grapes organically and do as little as possible to the wine." His mantra: "Put more effort in the vineyard and minimize treatment in the cellar; winemaking starts when you lay down the first compost in the Fall and prune in Winter." Every step of wine production, from pruning to bottling, is considered to minimize our impact on the environment and our products.
Jim favors the production of Bordeaux varietals but has produced some distinctive dry Sparkling Wine and several styles of Chardonnay as well. In keeping with Terra Sávia's collective philosophy, we are producing high quality estate grown organic wines at reasonable prices. From the vine to the glass every step is closely guided by our veteran winemaker assisted by Antonio Martinez who has been working with him in the vineyard and cellar for over 12 years.
Whites, Sparkling, Rosé
Unoaked Chardonnay - Produced in stainless steel tanks without any oak aging, this wine is refreshingly crisp, with citrus and floral notes.
Chardonnay Reserve - Aged three months in French oak barrels to add complexity and depth on the palate to accompany tropical fruit-forward notes.
Blanc de Blancs - Four years of bottle fermentation has produced bone dry and fine‐bubbled sparkler that proudly displays yeasty notes of pear, lemon, and brioche. Made with 100% organic Chardonnay.
Brut Rouge Sparkling Rosé - Crisp and dry with citrusy aromas of red berries. This fine bubbly rosé of merlot is a beautiful creature.
Rosé - An off-dry, mouth-watering dark rosé of Merlot. Into only our second vintage this has become one of our best sellers!
All our wines are made with our estate-grown CCOF-certified organic grapes.
